Strategic planning is the art of carefully identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for an organization to deliver its mission and sustain itself. Nonprofits achieve their vision through sound business practices, well-integrated planning initiatives, and innovative implementation strategies. In other words, effective strategic planning envisions a successful future, decides on and implements the best strategies to get there.

Effective strategic planning asks and answers five key questions in four phases:

We’ve discovered that many people have bad experiences with strategic planning. They have either created strategic plans and allow them to sit on the shelf, or implemented only certain objectives and not the whole plan. Our objective is to educate clients about the art and science behind effective strategic planning. Our goal is to prepare them, as leaders, to design and implement an effective strategic plan. Unlike many consultants who "facilitate a one-day retreat" or simply prioritize board and staff members’ ideas, we work with clients to listen to their customers’ needs, identify their strategic investment and fundraising needs.
